SHR - Super Hair Removal
SHR stands for Super Hair Removal. Using a patented technology, SHR permanently destroys hair follicles by using low fluence repetitive laser pulses targeting the susceptible hair follicles while at the same time providing concurrent contact cooling, resulting in painless, permanent and safe hair removal.

SHR gradually heats the dermis to a temperature that is able to effectively damage hair follicles and also prevent re-growth, while very importantly avoiding injury to the surrounding tissue. With Super Hair Removal, the hair follicles do not get exposed to one single pulse of high energy because using a single pulse of high energy (like regular laser hair removal) can carry the risk of injuring the skin. Instead the follicle receives multiple, short, and low energy pulses accumulating enough energy to damage the hair follicle.
FAQS

Who is eligible for Super Hair Removal (laser)?
You are eligible for SHR treatments if you are over 18, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and are in good health. You will also be avoid prolonged sun exposure and waxing/tweezing between treatments (shaving only). People with a history of seizures and those on photo-sensitising medications should also avoid laser treatments.

Can I have any other cosmetic treatments on the day of my appointment?
You can have appointments for areas other than the ones being treated for laser on the same day.

Is SHR Super Hair Removal painful?
SHR is virtually painless. An In-Motion method with ultrasound gel is used by moving the hand-piece multiple times over the area being treated to ensure full coverage. Crystal Tech cooling is used via a sapphire tip preventing superficial burns and facilitating painless but effective hair removal. SHR may feel warm whilst the procedure is taking place, but overall it is a very safe option including for darker Fitzpatrick skin types that are at high risk of burns and PIHP (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

Is there any downtime?
You are able to resume your normal activities immediately after the treatment. Skin may feel warm immediately after the procedure but this quickly subsides. We recommend avoiding prolonged sun exposure whilst having regular laser treatments.

How long will I notice the benefits?
Most people notice a reduction in hair (or at least a more even skin texture from a reduction in follicles) after the first treatment. However, it usually takes at least 6 treatments (4 weeks apart) to target all hair follicles and prevent future growth. From then, they may only need an SHR session once every 12 months for maintenance. Hormonal changes can affect the growth rate of hair follicles. Treatment plans are individualised depending on the type of hair and how fast it grows.
